Dear GADE Members,
Due to the rapidly evolving situation around COVID-19, we cannot move forward with the 2020 GADE meeting, which was scheduled to take place in Chicago April 1-3, 2020. GADE leadership has been closely monitoring the situation around COVID-19, and a growing number of Consortium members would be unable to attend due to governmental, organizational, or personal travel restrictions. The 2020 GADE Conference in Chicago will be postponed. We plan to host it in Chicago at the LondonHouse next spring.
Per our by-laws, GADE will hold a virtual business Meeting in April 2020. We are also considering providing some sessions, such as the New Director Workshop via an online platform. More information will come on the Business Meeting as well as other potential events.
In addition, GADE would deeply appreciate if you could invite your school to forfeit the 2020 registration fee as this is an unexpected situation. We’ll acknowledge the support of these schools on the GADE website. However, should it be necessary, we can also certainly refund your registration. Please don’t hesitate to contact Carmella Snook at [email protected] if you’ll need to be refunded.
Each year, we look forward to gathering with GADE members representing doctoral programs across the country to learn from one another and discuss doctoral education in social work. It is very disappointing to not be able to meet as planned especially given the hard work so many of you have put into preparing for the meeting. We understand how discouraging this is to everyone, but it is an impossibility to hold the meeting given the public health crisis in which we find ourselves. We thank you for your input and engagement and look forward to gathering at a later date to continue to share with one another the important work that we do.
Please take care of yourself and your loved ones.
Stay well!
Mo Yee Lee, President
Julia Henly, Conference Chair
Allison Zippay, Conference Co-Chair
