The GADE Board of Directors Awards Committee are excited to announce that nominations are now open for the three 2022 GADE Awards that will be presented at the 2022 Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Annual Program Meeting (APM) in November. Award nominations are due by July 15, 2022. The Group for the Advancement of Doctoral Education (GADE) announced three new members to the Board of Directors at the Annual Business Meeting during the GADE Annual Conference. New members will each help support the nonprofit’s work to promote excellence in doctoral education in social work.

On behalf of the Group for the Advancement for Doctoral Education in Social Work (GADE), we invite nominations for three (3) open positions on the Board of Directors. All Board Members shall serve a 3-year term, and they may be re-elected for one consecutive term.

We are happy to report that under the GADE-supported Cross-institutional Student Collaboration Initiative "Students from Migrant Backgrounds in Doctoral Programs in Social Work: Increasing Access and Creating Conditions for Success" are hosting a public event open to doctoral social work students on April 25, 2022 at 12pm Eastern.

On behalf of the GADE Board of Directors, the University of Utah College of Social Work and the 2022 GADE conference hosts, Christina Gringeri (Chair) and Chi-Fang Wu (co-Chair), we write to inform you that the 2022 GADE Conference will be held virtually on May 23-25, 2022.

GADE celebrates March as Social Work Month -- a time to recognize the great profession and the incredible community of social work educators, students, scholars, educators, and practitioners.

The Doctoral Student Committee (DSC) is now accepting applications and this application period will close February 15th. All students representing all years and schools are encouraged to apply.

On behalf of the GADE Board of Directors, we invite you to the GADE Virtual Award Ceremony on February 2, 2022, at 7:00pm ET / 6:00pm CT. Due to the recent surge in COVID-19 infections we were unable to host the GADE Reception at the SSWR Conference. In order to properly recognize our community, we will be hosting a virtual event to honor the 2022 GADE Awardees and Cross-Institutional Student Collaboration Winner and recognize the Anti-Racist Pedagogy doctoral student team.

Thank you to those that joined us at the Society for Social Work & Research (SSWR) conference last week in Washington, DC or virtually! For those of you who attended the conference, we hope it offered an opportunity to network, learn, and reconnect.

Unfortunately, this year we had to make the difficult decision to cancel the GADE Reception due to the recent surge in COVID-19 infections. We are following up to recognize the 2022 GADE Awardees with an awardee recognition video that would have traditionally been honored during this reception.

We are writing to inform you that the GADE Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to cancel our GADE Reception at the 2022 SSWR Conference. Due to the unprecedented rise in recent coronavirus infections, we feel it is prudent to honor our awardees at an online live awards ceremony to be held in the very near future (date TBA). In addition to this virtual event, we will plan to recognize this year’s awardees again at the 2023 SSWR Annual Conference. The Board did not come to this decision lightly. After careful deliberation, we concluded that the risks outweighed the benefits and made the difficult decision to shift course.
