CALL FOR NOMINATIONS – GADE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Dear GADE Members:
On behalf of the Group for the Advancement for Doctoral Education in Social Work (GADE), we invite nominations for three (3) open positions on the Board of Directors. All Board Members shall serve a 3-year term, and they may be re-elected for one consecutive term. Board Members are elected by the GADE Membership, per the GADE Constitution.
The Board is involved in strategic planning, financial oversight, conference planning, bylaws review and revision, website design and maintenance, as well as the planning and implementation of all initiatives and sponsored events, including the awards program and collaborations with CSWE, SSWR, and others. The Board typically meets virtually via Zoom monthly, and in some cases in-person at the CSWE and SSWR annual conferences, and at the GADE Annual Conference.
This year, the election of new Board of Directors will take place online from May 13-23, 2022. We will announce the results at the Business Meeting during the 2022 GADE Annual Conference. Openings this year are for one officer position, Secretary, and two At-Large Members.
Secretary (one position; 3-year term). The Secretary prepares and keeps the minutes of the business meetings of the membership and of the Board, track terms of Board members and officers, and organizes the annual Board elections and the election of the Board officers. The Secretary makes the approved minutes of meetings available to the membership.
At-Large Members (two positions; 3-year term). At-Large Members typically take on a leadership role as Chairperson of one of the standing committees, to include additional volunteer members. Each committee may elect a Co-Chair. The President shall appoint chairs to all standing committees subject to the Board advice and consent. Committee Chairs are responsible for soliciting members. The Chair will keep an accurate record of committee meetings and decisions and be prepared to present the committee report to the Board as required. The Committee Chair shall provide regular updates of the committee’s work to the Board either in writing or at the Board meetings. Standing Committees include: Awards, Program, Constitution, Finance, and Marketing/Website.

Outgoing Board Members this year include: Michael Hurlburt (Treasurer), Mo Ye Lee (Immediate Past-President), and myself (Secretary). It has been an honor to serve GADE and the greater social work doctoral community.
