Join the Group for the Advancement of Doctoral Education in Social Work (GADE) for a webinar hosted by President Denise Burnette with Dr. Halaevalu F. Ofahengaue Vakalahi, President and CEO of the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). CSWE plays a key role in reflecting and shaping societal trends through the development, implementation, and certification of educational policy and accreditation standards for BSW, MSW, and DSW programs. Developments in these programs are integral to the design and function of PhD programs and their students. With this in mind, GADE is pleased to offer a live webinar on CSWE updates and their implications for PhD and DSW programs and their students.
Prior to joining CSWE, Dr. Halaevalu F. Ofahengaue Vakalahi was Professor and Dean of the College of Health and Society at Hawai’i Pacific University over the disciplines of social work, public health, nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and physician assistant. She has served in various professional organizations including CSWE and the National Association of Social Workers, as well as in her Pacific Islander community and in communities in which she has lived and worked. Her areas of teaching include social policy, human behavior and the social work environment, and organizational leadership. Her two areas of scholarship are Pacific Islander culture and community and Women of Color in academia, in which she has contributed extensively to the existing literature through peer-reviewed articles, chapters/references, co-edited/co-authored books, and other communication mediums.
