SSWR Doctoral Student Committee accepting applications

The Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) Doctoral Student Committee (DSC) is now accepting applications. Applications are due on February 15, 2022. Please apply here. All students representing all years and schools are encouraged to apply.

The DSC is chaired by the SSWR Student Director at Large (the SSWR Student Board Member). It functions as a national doctoral student association or graduate student committee, akin to those embedded in one's graduate program. While the DSC's function is rooted within complementing SSWR conference activities and events, each year I am proud to say that DSC has focused on creating more year-round opportunities for connection and activism.

The DSC includes three subcommittees: Mentoring, Conference, and Communications. Each subcommittee is chaired by 1-2 DSC members and those chairs along with the DSC Chair make up the DSC Leadership Committee. The Communications Committee creates a newsletter every other month and controls our student-only FacebookThe Mentoring Committee runs Coffee with a Scholar and the New Attendee Program. The Conference Committee runs Meet the Scientist; Doctoral Student Panel/Luncheon; the SSWR Social Hour and Virtual Happy Hour and the Writing Retreats. For more details or any questions please email Alicia Mendez, the current Student Director at Large for SSWR and the DSC Chair at [email protected]
